How the NPS Calculator works
The National Pension System (NPS) is a retirement scheme where you invest regularly until age 60, building a corpus split between equity and debt. This calculator estimates your corpus at 60, the portion you can withdraw as a lump sum, and the annuity that funds your monthly pension.
At 60, at least 40% of the corpus must be used to buy an annuity (pension); the rest can be withdrawn tax-free. NPS also offers an extra ₹50,000 tax deduction under Section 80CCD(1B).
Frequently asked questions
What tax benefit does NPS give?+
Beyond 80C, NPS offers an additional ₹50,000 deduction under Section 80CCD(1B), making it popular for extra tax saving.
When can I withdraw NPS?+
Normally at age 60. At least 40% of the corpus must buy an annuity; up to 60% can be withdrawn as a tax-free lump sum.
What returns does NPS give?+
Returns depend on your equity/debt mix and the market. Many people model 8–10% long-term; actual returns are not guaranteed.
What is an annuity in NPS?+
An annuity is a product bought from an insurer with part of your corpus; it pays you a regular pension for life. The annuity rate affects your monthly pension.
